Anaerobic Digester Case study: powering HGVs with bio-methane

E4environment first helped Willand Biogas to obtain planning permission for their 2MW Anaerobic Digester in 2016.

Based in Devon, the plant takes poultry manure and other agricultural wastes.

Subsequently in 2019, E4environment Ltd were engaged to secure planning permission for the client to install a renewable compressed natural gas (RCNG) station.

This would allow the plant to power a fleet of biomethane HGVs which not only cut carbon emissions by 60-80% vs diesel HGVs but are also 50% quieter.

The application was successful, alongside another successful application to install a Reserve Power Plant. This allows for energy storage on site.

E4environment also project managed the process and produced the Transport Statement.
